Hatched fishes belong to very few species of fish that are able to fly. A hatched fish on the run jumps out of the water and uses the pectoral fins just like wings. So these tiny, only 5-6 cm long species can jump several meters. The typical hatched belly is also an adaption for flying, because it is needed for the necessary musculature.
