The leopard crab Ceylonthelphusa kandanbyi represents an attractive addition to the offered crustaceans. This 1999 scientifically described species originates from Sri Lanka where it is found in the Bentota river system. According to statement of our supplier the animals were caught in the proximity of Mathugama city a town in the western part of Sri Lanka. After first reports of experienced crab holders C. kandanbyi is far less plant destructive than most other crabs. They spare also not to small fishes. Since they are not very far spread in the Aqua and/or Terraristik so far, surely some news will be discovered with this species.(Photo F. Schäfer, Text K. Diehl)
