The species of Dario – the Dwarf Badis – are in one respect comparable to their larger cousins of the genus Badis: they are Chameleon fish! Depending on mood or light the colours change a lot and fast.
We have once more the Flame Red Dario, D. hysginon, from Burma in stock. The species becomes only 2 cm long. One should keep these tiny jewels in an unheated aquarium (given that the tank is placed in a living room); temperatures in the range from 16-25°C are best. The aquarium can be small, but should be very well planted. The fish feed on any type of small live or frozen food.
For our customers: the fish have code 413783 on our stocklist. Please note that we exclusively supply the wholesale trade
Lexicon: Dario: after the vernacular name of one of the members of the genus in Bengal. hysginon: the name of a red dye made of plants that was used in ancient times; the name refers to the red coloration of the fish.
