From the Cross River system in Cameroon originates Polypterus teugelsi. This 2004 scientifically described species could be imported in this spring for the first time. They exhibit a black network, which covers an olive background on the dorsal and dorsolateral surface of the body. This and their brightly orange colored belly are singular in bichirs. In their homeland they inhabit shaded rainforest streams, water chemistry plays a subordinated role for their maintenance, strong food and regular water changes, however are of great importance.(Photo F.
